"Let’s Get Physical!” Using Fitness-Focused Platforms for OSINT Research

A lot of OSINT and SOCMINT research and trainings like to hit on the more well-known social media platforms, such as Facebook, Twitter/X, Instagram, TikTok, etc.  But there are quite a bit of lesser-known platforms out there that, while they don’t specifically focus on sharing the latest TikTok challenge or a place to share your political beliefs, hold a plethora of information that can be very beneficial to OSINT investigations.  Such tools are called “Fitness-Focused” platforms, aka “Social Media for Athletes”.  Platforms and websites such as Strava, MapMyRun, Nike+, and Garmin Connect can offer valuable information such as locations, photos, videos, associates, etc...and have even been used to discover previously unknown locations of US Military bases around the world.  I will introduce attendees to these lesser-known resources, showing the basic navigation and searching techniques of the sites/apps, as well as show some examples of how these platforms have been used in OSINT/SOCMINT Investigations.

This webinar is geared toward all experience levels and can focus on both law-enforcement and public sector realms.

Join us on February 20 at 5:00 PM (Eastern US) for the 1-hour live broadcast or watch the on-demand recording at your convenience. You’ll have 30 days of unlimited access to the recorded webinar.
